English Abstract

In this work, a correction for the characteristic impedance used to calculate the power dissipated by overhead conductors subjected to wind vibrations is implemented, which takes into account the influence of the bending stiffness of such conductors. The correction allows the dissipated power calculated with the Inverse Standing Wave Ratio (ISWR) Method to be consistent with that obtained with the Power Method. This consistency also requires that the amplitudes of the nodes used in the ISWR Method are obtained with good precision, considering that the location of these nodes is difficult to establish in practical cases. For this purpose, a simple and effective technique is proposed that allows obtaining the amplitude of each analyzed node using a pair of transducers placed on both sides of its experimentally adjusted theoretical position.
