English Abstract

A non-isolated hybrid bridgeless dual output (NHBLDO) converter is designed for motor drive along with power quality enhancement of single-phase grid fed switched reluctance motor (SRM). A NHBLDO front end converter with mid-point is developed by integrating Zeta and canonical switching cell (CSC) converter as per requirement of mid-point converter (MPC) assisted SRM drive. This converter is designed to operate in discontinuous current mode (DCM), which is suitable for low power low-cost applications. Moreover, single voltage sensor used in single voltage controller is sufficient and easy to implement for low-cost low power appliances. Non isolated hybrid bridgeless converter with dual output NHB converter is developed to compensate for grid voltage variations ranging along with split capacitor voltage regulation for wide speed control of SRM drive. Moreover, NHBLDO converter components are selected to perform satisfactorily for 500 W power rating. Theoretical analysis and operating modes are discussed in detail. Finally, presented NHBLDO converter fed SRM drive is verified through simulation and validated through laboratory setup operating at 220V, 500-W, and 300V DC link voltage, yielding 93.23% efficiency, 0.993 input power factor, and around 3.70% current THD, which is as per recommended IEC 61000-3-2 guidelines.
